Listed by University of Colorado Boulder

About

Commencement recognizes and celebrates students’ academic achievement while inspiring them to go forth and positively impact humanity. Join us in celebrating the graduating class of 2023 by volunteering to help students and their families navigate campus and create a positive and memorable experience. In-person commencement events will take place Thursday, May 11th - Saturday, May 13th. Volunteer roles are detailed below and volunteer shifts are listed in chronological order on the sign-up.

  • Accessibility Ambassadors: Accessibility Ambassadors will support our guests needing mobility assistance by providing transport via wheelchairs between drop-off locations to seating locations.

  • Commencement Procession Breakfast: Volunteers at this event will help set up, serve, and celebrate with seniors for the Senior Class Council Commencement Procession breakfast. After the graduating class begins processing this group of volunteers will also help with the take-down portion of the event.

  • Golf Cart Driver: As a golf cart volunteer, you will pick up and drive around families, students, and other commencement guests who seem lost on campus or who need assistance in moving from one location to another. A variety of shifts are available from May 11 thru May 13. CU Boulder Faculty, staff, and students must take or have taken CU’s Motorized Off-road Vehicles (Golf Cart Safety training) prior to the beginning of the volunteer shift. Golf cart driver volunteers that are not CU Boulder faculty, staff, and students must provide acknowledgment of having reviewed the University's Motorized Off-road Vehicles training course before the start of their shift. Copies of the training will be available for volunteers to review on-site prior to the shift. There will be a quick training before volunteers depart for the day that will further explain routes and pick-up/drop-off locations.

  • Recognition Ceremony Hosts: The role of the Recognition Ceremony Host is to serve as a representative of the Commencement Committee at various campus venues in support of the recognition ceremony planner(s).  Think of yourself as the event venue manager or host for your shift.  Select a volunteer shift based on the dates and times you are available and/or based on the school being recognized if you have a special connection. Volunteers will be sent information in advance regarding their role and should plan to attend a volunteer briefing meeting at the start of your shift.
