About
Are you looking to make a difference in your community and positively impact people's lives?
Role Summary: We are looking for several volunteers to provide haircuts and trims to men and women with varying hair textures and lengths. This volunteer would be placed in one of our 17 buildings to host hour-long drop-in hair cutting sessions bi-weekly or once a month. This role is highly impactful for our residents who often struggle to afford regular trips to the barber or stylist or feel uncomfortable in public barbershops and salons. Having a volunteer meet them where they are at eliminates these barriers and encourages self-care behaviors.
Role Qualifications/Requirements:
· If you do not have licensure or certification, please provide a detailed history of your experience and images of your work. Students are highly encouraged to volunteer. We would be happy to count the volunteering towards any hours you may need to get certified.
· A desire to engage with our residents and to align with or learn more about our values of housing first and harm reduction.
· Need to provide your own supplies including hair cutting scissors, clippers, etc.
· Able to pass a background check.
· Be committed for at least 6 months on a bi-weekly or monthly cadence.
· Have reliable transportation to and from the building.
Feel like you may be a good fit or have any questions? Please reach out to volunteer@plymouthhousing.org and our volunteer coordinator would be happy to discuss next steps.
Thank you for your interest in supporting our residents and our mission to end homelessness!
